Where We Started
Today, Gurcan Tailor & Dry Cleaners is a family-operated business in Palmyra, NY, and Newark, NY. Our story, however, starts across the Atlantic Ocean in Kirsehir, Turkey where my father, Murat Gurcan, started his tailoring career. He spent over a decade working closely with an Italian master tailor, where he himself mastered the fine art of tailoring. In the years that followed my father moved to Amsterdam, where he worked as a tailor in custom clothing and large scale manufacturing of clothing. However, he moved back to Turkey several years later and started his custom tailoring business.

In 2007 our family moved to the United States and 2 years after that started our own tailoring and dry cleaning business in Newark, NY. In December 2020 we opened our Palmyra,NY location.

Are Now
The core of our business focuses on tailoring & alterations on just about anything that comes to mind - from minor fixes such as undone seams to completely redesigning outfits. With over 35 years of experience in tailoring, we have worked on pretty much anything that there is to think about. ​Over the last 12 years that we have been in Rochester & Finger Lakes area, we have been offering high-quality dry cleaning services including leather, suede, wedding gowns, and rugs. We treat each item carefully to ensure that your items of fully clean to the best of our ability and offer a look at it once we have finished.

In the last few years, we have started expanding our Newark, NY location to offer high-quality menswear fashion. We have a selection of over 500 suits & tuxedos in stock at our Newark, NY shop along with accessories to make your event a fashionable one. ​

More recently in 2023 we have expanded into Eastview Mall to carry dresses for all types of special occasions.
